Home server project (part 4)

It occurs to me that there is a gap in the market for a linux-based home server/media server distro that just works.

Works out of the box, that is. A single ISO that someone can boot, install and then connect to the installed web ui to get up-and-running straight away. Like Rockstor crossed with Linux Mint (for ease of use), perhaps.

After three weeks of trawling the web, I still haven’t found such a thing.

My solution has been an Ubuntu Server installation, onto which I’ve installed Plex and set up some data backup partitions and all the gubbins to sync backups from the various computers within the house.

It all works OK, but feels like a huge waste of the potential this server could have. The problem is, I just don’t have the time right now to do anything else with it. Shame…
